Guidelines for Formation of IIA Student Centers

Architectural Education has been one of the aims & objectives of IIA & it is no coincidence that, to begin with the Institute was established as the "Architectural Students Association" on 12th May 1917 at Sir J.J. College of Architecture, Bombay.

We have many Institutions imparting Architectural Education (both at Degree level and Diploma level) affiliated to IIA. It is proposed to have IIA Student Centres in such Institutions to provide them a platform to come together and enlarge their curricular and co-curricular activities, team building, developing leadership skills and attain a comprehensive overall development.

IIA will facilitate the following:

  • Interface with IIA Chapters & Centres to facilitate periodic Workshops/Seminars/ Project visits/ Pool of visiting faculty for Institutions/ internship placement for the students, etc. by respective IIA Chapters/Centres/Sub-Centres.
  • Encourage student & faculty participation in National & International events.
  • Best outgoing student medal for the affiliated colleges, yearly.
  • Outstanding Thesis Awards
  • Student Jamboree (Annual/ Biennale)
  • Students' E-Journal to highlight students' works/activities/Projects/Articles & Skills.
  • Benefit of participating in the IIA activities and programs to prepare themselves to take the leadership role in the Institute in the coming years.

The Institutions can send a formal communication to IIA HO for formation of IIA Student Centre by submitting the Application Performa through the Chapter Chairperson. On getting the concurrence from IIA HO, the process of forming the Centre can be initiated. Once formed the centre can be inaugurated.
