In accordance with the decision of the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) Board of Examinations, students are required to complete the IIA course of examination within a maximum period of 10 years from their enrolment date for the IIA course of examination, in adherence to the norms established by the Council of Architects (COA). This directive will be applicable to all student enrolments commencing from 1 January 2024.
ADMISSIONS ARE OPEN FOR ENROLLMENT TO THE INDIAN INSTITUTE OF ARCHITECTS (IIA)- EXAMINATIONS SCHEME 2014.

The Indian Institute of Architects conducts a four parts of Professional Examination designed for working professionals in the field of architecture. Upon successful completion of this examination, candidates are conferred Associate Membership of the IIA. Associate Members are eligible for registration with the Council of Architecture (COA), established under the Architects Act, 1972.
This registration is recognized as at par with a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from a recognized university, thereby qualifying members for recruitment to senior positions and services under the jurisdiction of the Central Government.
The Govt. of India , Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) vide its notification No. 37 dated 5th August, 1992 has recognised the Associate Membership of the Indian Institute of Architects (By Examination) at par with Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture of a recognised Indian University for the purpose of employment to posts and services under the Central Government in appropriate field. The Council of Architecture, vide its letter no. CA/5/Academic-IIA dated 14th October, 20-14 has approved Scheme of Examination and Syllabus of Part-I,II, III &IV and granted permission to initiate the process for making fresh enrollment from academic year 2014-15. Students would be eligible to seek election as Associate members of the Indian Institute of Architects (AIIA) as per prevalent rules and regulations.
To apply for Student Membership, candidates must fulfil the following requirements and submit the application form along with the prescribed fee and supporting documents:

NATA Qualification: You must have passed the current year National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA), conducted by the Council of Architecture.

After the acceptance of the student membership application, a IIA Student Membership Number shall be issued to the student, along with information regarding the examination they are eligible to undertake.

The last date for the submission of application form for the examination of June will be 30th April and December will be 31st October. Forms will be accepted with additional late fee of Rs.3,000/- for a further period of 15 days after last date of submission of examination form is over. No application form of examination will be accepted thereafter.
