URGENT NOTICE

After due diligence, It has been decided by the Scrutineers to restart the e-election process afresh from 20.00 hours 27th June 2023 and closing at 09.00 hours on 30th June 2023. All members need to cast their votes. It is ensured that all votes cast earlier are annulled and there are no residual votes remaining.

All the members, who have voted before the suspension of e-voting due to technical glitches, are required to cast their votes again.

There are many cases where the nominations are equivalent to the positions. In all such cases members may vote or may not vote.

There are many cases where there are no nominations. All such positions shall not appear on the ballot paper.

Elections shall not be held at all places where there is no nomination or there is no valid nomination or where number of nominations are equivalent to or less than the positions.

Clarification regarding Counting of Votes.

Dear Members,

Counting of E Votes shall be done at IIA Head Office as per the announced schedule. Election results shall be handed over in a sealed envelop to the Hon. Secretary which shall be announced in the first GBM as per the programme.

Considering the limited space available in IIA H O, and in order to ensure an orderly completion of the counting process, a small number of candidates, including the presidential candidates or their authorised representatives may remain present in the IIA H O.

The process shall also be relayed live on line. (Link to be shared on the IIA Website).

GENERAL INFORMATION REGARDING IIA ELECTION 2023-25

15th June 2023.

All members are requested to note the following with reference to the IIA Elections 2023-25.

– There are many vacancies at the Chapter/Center/Sub-Center level due to various reasons. Members may note that they should not panic. IIA Council shall take a suitable decision for filling up of these vacancies.

– Member shall be able to access the IIA elections Ballots, by logging into the Members Profile page through “Member Login” tab which is located on top in the IIA Website.
Member can create or change the password only through their registered e-mail ID. Hence Members are requested to identify their email id which is registered with IIA, in advance. Members can refer the password resetting process, the link of the same has been mentioned in the FAQs.

– No changes in the e-mail ID shall be possible now.

IIA Election 2023-2025: NOT TO USE IIA LOGO FOR CANVASSING

13th June 2023.

All members/Candidates are informed not to use the IIA Logo for Election canvassing” If anyone uses the Logo after this notification, appropriate action shall be taken that can lead to cancellation of the Nomination.

Sad Demise of Prof. Balkrishna Vithaldas Doshi

Dear All,

IIA Office Bearers and the Council express deep grief at the sad demise of Prof. Balkrishna Vithaldas Doshi. With his demise, the fraternity of Architects in India and the world over have lost another stalwart.

He was a fellow of The Indian Institute of Architects and was awarded with IIA Baburao Mhatre Gold Medal for his contribution to the Architectural profession.

Besides a number of laurels, he was the recipient of the Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, RIBA Gold Medal and the most prestigious Pritzker Architecture Prize for his substantial contribution to the field of Architecture.

Throughout his career, he was an inspiration to many generations , both in Practice & Education. His death is an irreparable loss not only to the fraternity of Architects but also to the Society.

After a lot of deliberations, discussions, and concerns with respect to the well-being of our members, the IIA Awards Secretariat has decided to reschedule the IIA Awards to a later date in 2022. We will communicate the revised date and schedule well in advance.

FACT FINDING REPORT

The e-voting for the IIA elections happened from 26^th December 2020 starting 6 am to 28^th December 2020, 11 pm. The voting went on smoothly. There was a helpline available for those who wanted guidance on the process. There were practically no complaints brought to the notice of the Scruitineers or the helpline during the polling, until the late evening of 28^th December 2020.

Towards the fag end of the voting some people has brought out an announcement in the public domain that this election module is hackable and raised a complaint to the scrutineers in this regard. The scrutineers took an urgent meeting on 29^th December morning together with the supervisor Mr. Syed E Rizwi, Ministry of Education, Govt. of India and reviewed the situation. In the wake of the above complaint of intrusion/hacking into the election process of IIA, it was decided to postpone the scheduled counting of votes on 29^th. The system programmer was summoned to the meeting and asked for a detailed report. He reported that any suspected voting attempt or hacking will be captured by the system and can be retrieved, since each vote is having a backend data. He was asked to submit a report in this regard, with detailed list of such suspected votes against, National, Chapter, Centre, Sub centre and Region wise for representatives to COA, those went for the polling.

The Counting Policy

Counting of Votes polled in all categories IIA Election i.e. National, Chapter, Centre, Sub Centre and Zonal IIA Representatives to COA shall be completed.

Result Declaration

Total tally of suspect votes has been determined through the computer log of back end data and is declared along with this announcement. This exercise has been undertaken to calibrate the margin to decide the highest votes across the category.
Categories where No Suspect vote is recorded, the candidate securing highest votes shall be declared winner.
In categories where suspect voting is recorded, the difference of votes polled in each category between highest and second highest shall be recorded. The margin to decide the, the highest vote getter vis-à-vis the closest runner-up, the winner must peg at least one vote more than the total suspect vote in the category to decide the winner.
In category, where the margin between the highest vote getter and closest runner up is less than the suspect votes, the results shall be withheld for further action.

IIA Elections – e-Voting system security

Dear Members,

– After the ballots have been scrutinized by the Scrutineers and confirmed, Mr. S.E. Rizwi, the Supervisor has locked the system for admin and Scrutineers login by deactivating their login.
– Admin and Scrutineers have no access to the voting system till the time the Supervisor activates their account.
– Ballots for voting will be available to members only on the stipulated dates and time.
– The system can be opened for the results of the election by the Scrutineers on the stipulated date and time after the Supervisor reactivates the Scrutineers login.
– After recording the results by Scrutineers, the Supervisor will deactivate the Scrutineers login.

At the Scrutineers & Supervisor Meeting held online on 19.10.2020, it was suggested that the e-voting system be revalidated. Dr. Rakesh Goyal, Sysman Computers, accredited with NIC (National Informatic Centre), was retained for the revalidation on 24.10.2020. After due process of audit, The Institute has obtained again the Safe to Host Certificate issued dt. 5.12.2020.

IIA Elections -Notice -8 .12. 2020

Dear Members,

In continuation of the notice dated 25th Nov 2020, deferring the publishing of the final list of eligible candidates for all elections until further orders, thereby delaying the entire process of the elections, it is informed that, the issues raised were duly addressed to the satisfaction of Mr. S.E. Rizwi , Supervisor from the Ministry of Education (erstwhile MHRD). Having satisfied himself that, all doubts & concerns about the Election process having been reasonably & authoritatively addressed, he has, vide his order dated 4th Dec. 2020, allowed the resumption of the Election process beginning with the publication of final list of eligible candidates followed by other activities as scheduled within the given time frame or more depending on contingencies and with such revision of dates as may be required to make up for interim disruption.
Accordingly the election schedule is being revised & shall be notified shortly.

IIA National Awards for Excellence In Architecture 2018

Dear Fellow Members of IIA,

Greetings from IIA.

We received a wonderful response from the Members for this years Award. We had a record no of 519 entries. The first level of Jury for Shortlisting the Entries was conducted at Mumbai . The jury members shortlisted 84 entries for the final jury. The final jury will be conducted at Kovalam, Trivandrum , Kerala on 3rd and 4th of October 2019 .

There will be an open Jury on 3rd October , where in the Authors of the shortlisted entries will present the projects live before a Jury panel and Delegates of the Event. The presentation will be happening simultaneously in 4 different halls thru 3rd Oct morning till evening. The evening will mark cultural events and Dinner.

On 4th October , there will be 3 Key Note addresses by Invited Architects of other Nations. The Awards Declaration and presentation will be on 4th evening 6.30 onward.

The Delegation Charges will be Rs 3500/- upto 22nd September 2019.
Spot registration will be Rs 6000/-
The Registration Charges include Lunch and Dinners on 3rd and 4th Oct.
