IIA Elections 2026 – 2028

Note: 

IIA has received certain mails regarding the Final List of Eligible Candidates declared on 11 August 2026, including discrepancies relating to withdrawals, cancellations and higher-post candidatures where there are two candidatures from the same nominee. These are being re-verified and all genuine errors will be corrected before preparation of the Final Ballot Papers as per schedule.

Uttarakhand Chapter – Chairperson:
Ar. M. S. Negi has stated that he never withdrew his candidature and that the withdrawal email received by IIA was fraudulent. On verification, IIA found that the email was sent from ar.msnegii@gmail.com instead of his stated email ar.msnegi@gmail.com (an additional “i”).
Accordingly, the withdrawal shall not be treated as valid, and Ar. M. S. Negi’s candidature shall stand valid, ensuring him a fair opportunity to contest the election.

Accordingly, the Final Lists of Eligible Candidates of Bihar Chapter, Kerala Chapter, Tamil Nadu Chapter, Telangana Chapter, Uttarakhand Chapter, Brihan Mumbai Centre, Faridabad Centre, Hisar Centre, Kannur Centre, Kanpur Centre, Ludhiana Centre, Palakkad Centre, Patiala Centre, Pimpri-Chinchwad Centre, Pune Centre, Ambala Sub Centre & Jabalpur Sub Centre, have been corrected and replaced.

Appointment of Scrutineer – IIA Elections 2026–2028

The Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) hereby notifies that, due to a vacancy in the Panel of Scrutineers, Ar. Dileep Madhukar Gupte has been appointed as one of the Scrutineer for the IIA Elections for the term 2026–2028.

The Panel of Scrutineers shall comprise:
• Ar. Dileep Madhukar Gupte
• Ar. Paresh Kapadia
• Ar. Rajeev Taishete

All Nominations received from the email address of the nominee as per IIA records on or before 17.00 hrs. on 20th July 2026   on iiaelections2026.28@gmail.com shall be accepted & considered for scrutiny even if the nominee may not have received confirmation of receipt of his nomination.

Clarifications for Filing Nominations

In response to the various queries, the following clarifications are issued for the guidance of members intending to file nominations.

1. NATIONAL COUNCIL

(i) President

The nominees shall be fellow members of Institute & must have served at least one full term as  National office bearer (vide clause 28 & 32C )

(ii) Other Office Bearers (Vice President, Hon. Treasurer, Jt. Hon. Secretaries)

The nominees shall be fellow members of the Institute (vide clause no.28) & must have served at least one full term as an elected council member. (vide Clause no.32C)

2. CHAPTER EXECUTIVE COMMITTEES

(i) Chairperson & Vice Chairperson

The nominees shall be fellow members of the Institute & must have served at least one full term as office bearers of the chapter concerned. (vide clause no. 21m (i))

 (ii) Other Office Bearers and Executive Committee member

The nominees shall be fellow/Associate members of the chapter concerned (vide clause 21m)

3. CENTRE & SUB-CENTRE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEES

    The nominees shall be fellow/Associate members of the chapter concerned (Vide clause 21m (ii) (iii) clause)

4. Co-opted members shall not be eligible for the post of Office Bearers of the chapters.

5. Centre chairperson shall be eligible for the post of Office Bearers of the chapter but not for the post of Chairperson & Vice chairperson, as they do not fulfil the main criteria of eligibility that is of having served at least one full term as Office Bearer of Chapter concerned.

6. Number of position of executive Committee members of Sub Centre shall be 4 instead of 5 as mentioned in nomination form vide Clause (21m(iii)).

7. No nominee can be a candidate for more than two consecutive term for the same post of Office Bearers of National Council /Chapter/Centre /Sub Centre.

8. Eligibility criteria of having served one full term may be relaxed in case of new chapter, centre & sub centre (vide Clause m(i))

9. All chapter/centre & sub centres formed during the term 2023-2025 shall be considered as new chapters, centres & sub centres & eligibility criteria for the post of office bearer may be relaxed (vide clause 21 m(i))

10. The elections are being conducted through e-voting system duly certified by Govt. approved agency (vide Clause 32 e (i))

11. Every care at all stages of the election process including e-voting is being taken & shall continue to be taken to ensure free & fair elections.

12. The nomination received shall be scrutinised in detail & list of eligible candidates shall be uploaded on the website as per election schedule. The list of rejected nominations be uploaded on the IIA website for filing the objections, which will again be scrutinised before uploading the final list of eligible nominations. Presence of Candidates during this administrative process is neither feasible nor desirable, as such shall not be permitted.

13. The Proposer and Seconder of Nominees shall be from same Chapter / Centre / Sub Centre concerned.

14. Any Chapter / Centre / Sub Centre formed in the middle of the term shall not be considered for having been functional full term.

15. The Nomination form & its annexures may be in different files but shall be forwarded in a single email by the candidate from his email as per IIA records.

16. A Member can propose or second the nominees for different post but subject to the maximum numbers of post available.

17. A Candidate can also propose or second the nominees for a posts other than for which he himself has applied.

18. Aadhar cards are required been asked to be submitted for the purpose of identification and few official use if elected, however difference between address mentioned in Aadhar card & IIA records, shall not render the nomination liable for rejection.

19. Election results of the last 3 term (2015-2020, 2020-2023,2023-2025) have already been uploaded on IIA website which can be downloaded and submitted with the nomination form to prove eligibility for Office Bearers Positions.

20. In the event of any inconsistency or discrepancy, these clarifications shall prevail over any earlier note, instruction, communication, or clarification in the event of any inconsistency or discrepancy.

Clarifications Regarding Filing of Nomination Forms for IIA Elections 2026–2028

Nominees, proposer & Seconder may please note the following grounds on which their nominations shall be liable for rejection:

1. Nominations received after due date & time as mentioned in the election schedule i.e. after 17.00 hrs on 20.07.2026.
2. Nominations with incomplete or missing information.
3. Failure to attach self-attested Govt. issued Aadhaar Card and PAN Card.
4. Failure to attach Proof of Eligibility wherever applicable.
5. Failure to clearly mention the post for which nomination is filed.
6. Nominations with overwriting, alteration or correction or illegible hand writing.
7. Mismatch in the name & other personal details between proof of Identity & IIA records.
8. Nomination for the 3 rd consecutive term after having already served 2 terms for the same post of Office Bearers.
9. Non-payment of membership subscription at least up to the end of the term i.e. up to FY 2028 by on or before last date of submission of nomination i.e. by 17.00 hrs on 20.07.2026.
10. Nominations filed, proposed or seconded for a chapter, centre or sub centre by members not affiliated to such chapter, centre or sub centre as per IIA records.
11. Nominations with incorrect/invalid membership number of the
    nominee/proposer/seconder.
12. Multiple proposals by the proposer or seconder for more than permissible number of positions for particular post.
13. Failure to provide valid email/mobile nos. matching with IIA records.
14. Nomination forms received by speed post/courier /personally or any other mode except by email address iiaelections2026.28@gmail.com.

Clarifications

1. Centre Chairpersons are not eligible for the post of Chairperson & Vice Chairperson for the Chapter.
2. In addition, the nominees, proposers, and seconders must strictly adhere to the important instructions provided overleaf of the nomination form.
